Mental Health Information Line

Starting in April 2009, this service of the BC Mental Health Information Line (previously administered by the Canadian Mental Health Association’s BC Division) will be provided in British Columbia by the Distress Line Network.

Please phone the Distress Line Network at 310-6789 if you wish to speak to a trained volunteer specialist for support or referrals related to mental health. This is a free call and no area code is needed. This service is available 24 hours a day.

If you prefer to access help and support via email, please write to us at .

To order a variety of mental health publications produced by CMHA, or for non-emergency mental health information, please contact us at 604-688-3234 or toll free at 1-800-555-8222 from 8:30 to 4:30 on weekdays, or by email at . If we’re not free to take your call, we’ll respond within 1 to 2 business days. You can also contact your local CMHA branch for information about local mental health services.

If you’re only interested in BC Partners publications such as Visions Journal (after 2003), please visit the HeretoHelp.bc.ca web site.

For any other non-emergency health related inquiry or referral, or to speak to a nurse or pharmacist, please phone 811. Again, this is a free call, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Interpretation services are available in more than 100 languages if you say the name of the language you need in English.
