Bounce Back is an evidence-based mood-improvement program designed to assist primary care practitioners in working with their patients. As participants learn Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) skills to help them deal with problems such as inactivity, unhelpful thinking, worry, and avoidance, Bounce Back has been proven to enhance overall well-being and quality of life.
Our free Living Life to the Full DVD can be given to anyone who might benefit. However, our Overcoming Depression, Low-Mood, & Anxiety workbook and telephone coaching service is only available by referral for those who are experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of depression (PHQ-9 = 5-19) with or without anxiety.
Bounce Back accepts fax referrals from primary care practitioners throughout BC. Practitioner and patient calls to 1-866-639-0522 (toll-free) will be routed to the nearest community coach, who will phone back promptly to speak with you and/or provide DVDs, brochures, referral forms, or other Bounce Back supplies upon request.
Family physicians who consult with a Bounce Back coach as part of collaborative care planning for a patient with complex needs may bill the Community Patient Conferencing fee (Fee Code 14016).
Confirm that depressive symptoms are mild/moderate (e.g., PHQ-9 = 5-19) and no contraindications to a low-intensity cognitive-behavioural intervention apply
Advise patients that Bounce Back is a self-help program with workbooks mailed by coaches who do educational-motivational telephone sessions
Give each referred patient a DVD and brochure. Also ensure patients know that they are being referred and a coach will call them in the next week or so.
Provide clear, complete information on the referral form so we can easily make contact with you and your patients to guarantee fast, efficient delivery of service
