    The Vancouver Board of Trade has joined the growing movement toward improving the psychological well-being of workplaces by releasing a landmark report entitled Psychologically Healthy Workplaces: Improving Bottom Line Results and Employee Psychological Well-Being.

    Extensive information, including Q&As for managers and employees, information on training and workshops, speakers, current news and research in the field, and events.

    Information in many languages on mental health, specific mental health conditions and illnesses, treatments, resources in BC, various demographic-specific information, etc. Provided by BC Partners for Mental Health and Addictions, a group of seven non-profit agencies including the Canadian Mental Health Association's BC Division.

  • Building Mentally Healthy Workplaces

    A recent survey finds that nearly half of Canadian employees have dealt with mental health issues at some point, though many are reluctant to reveal their struggles to their employer due to concerns surrounding stigma. The report, Building Mentally Healthy Workplaces, stresses the need for more mental health training for managers.

  • Guarding Minds at Work
    Tools to assess and address psychosocial risk in the workplace.  Includes survey, scorecards, audit forms, evidence-based recommendations and evaluation methods
  • Leadership Framework for Advancing Workplace Mental Health
    From the Mental Health Commission of Canada.  Includes videos of corporate, small business, government and union leaders talking about workplace mental health – the business case, corporate social responsibility, risk management, recruitment and retention.
  • Healthy Minds at Work
    Provides information and links to credible resources that can help workplaces effectively address mental health issues with the aim of improving workplace mental health for all.
  • Visions Journal's Workplaces Issue
    The Workplaces issue of Visions, BC’s Mental Health and Addictions Journal includes articles by Jennifer Lynch, QC, Chief Commissioner of the CHRC on the legal aspects; by Ali Dastmalchian, Dean of the University of Victoria School of Business on the business case; and several other articles on the topic.

  • Mind Matters Mental Health E-News  
    Canadian Mental Health Association, BC Division’s monthly e-newsletter contains the latest research on mental health, including workplace mental health, disability management and return-to-work practices, as well as events around the province. Available by free online subscription.

  • Mental Health Works Presentation and Workshops
    Workplace presentations and workshops available across Canada. Certified Trainers in BC deliver in-house training anywhere in BC, Yukon, and Alberta, and colleagues deliver anywhere in Canada – including workshops en français. We would be delighted to deliver management skills workshops for managers and union representatives, specialist training for HR professionals, and  “Awareness” and “Workplace Influence” sessions for employees at all levels. BC HRMA members – these courses may be eligible for CHRP recertification credits.

  • BC Psychologically Healthy Workplace Awards
    The BC Psychologically Healthy Workplace Collaborative is a standing committee of the BC Psychological Association, and is comprised of psychologists, business leads, academics and informed professionals who volunteer their time, commitment and expertise to further knowledge about creating psychologically healthy workplaces in BC.
  • Psychologically Healthy Workplace Program
    An initiative of the American Psychological Association, the PHWA program offers a host of resources for employers and employees related to psychologically healthy workplaces.

  • Partnership for Workplace Mental Health
    The Partnership for Workplace Mental Health is a program of the American Psychiatric Foundation, a subsidiary of the American Psychiatric Association. The Partnership works with businesses to ensure that employees and their families living with mental illness, including substance use disorders, receive effective care. The website includes information on a range of practical employer practices in the area of workplace mental health, by type of program (e.g., awards and recognition; disability/case management; disease management; health plans; wellness).
