The Bottom Line Conference is a collaborative initiative of a volunteer steering committee of concerned leaders from business, unions, government and non-profits and staff from the Canadian Mental Health Association, BC Division (CMHA).
Recognizing that untreated workplace mental illnesses like depression and anxiety disorders affect 1 in 5 employees and cost the Canadian economy $33 billion annually, this conference has become the signature event for CMHA BC Division, creating awareness of the impact of workplace mental illness and finding strategies and solutions that benefit both employers and employees. The conference enables business leaders, unions, managers and occupational health professionals to share knowledge, dialogue, resources and best practices that result in workplace action.
Now in its seventh year, the Bottom Line Conference has brought together over 1600 delegates, 90 speakers and 180 sponsors, endorsers and patrons from public, private, non-profit and union workplace environments and has contributed significantly to creating awareness of the problem while reducing the associated stigma. The 2009 conference will celebrate new and exciting provincial, national and international mental health initiatives and relate it to working parents and family members who have experienced mental illness.
