Nancy Hall
Leadership Award
Nancy graduated from McMaster University with a PhD in medical sciences. She has worked across the country developing provincial health care strategies for people with disabilities. Currently, she has been a Senior Advisor to the Interim Authority for Community Living, working to develop new policies and programs for people with extraordinary needs.
Marja Bergen
Outstanding Community Volunteer Award
Marja’s focus is to address the stigma of mental illness in the Christian community, having written several books and articles for Christians living with mood disorders. She partnered with the Mood Disorders Association to establish Living Room, a church-based peer support group for people with depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder. Today, there are over 12 of these groups around Canada.
Harry Karlinsky
Professional Services Award
Harry has an MD with a specialty degree in Geriatric Psychiatry and a Masters in Neuroscience from the University of London, England. He is currently a Clinical Professor in the University of British Columbia’s Psychiatry Department. Harry founded and directs the award-winning Frames of Mind Mental Health Film Series, a thought-provoking cinema which aims to educate the community and professionals about mental health and mental illness.
